A tall cabinet clears more floor than any other piece of garage storage. Paint tins, car-care bottles, garden chemicals, power tool cases and spare bulbs all go behind two full-height doors that lock with a key, so the garage looks tidy and the risky things stay out of reach. The body and doors are cold-rolled steel with a matt slate-blue powder coat on a matt black frame, which stands up to knocks and a damp British winter. Inside are four shelves that you can move up or down to suit tall bottles or low boxes, and four levelling feet keep the cabinet straight on an uneven concrete floor.

Specification

Care

Dust the powder-coated steel with a soft cloth and remove marks with warm water and a little mild washing-up liquid, then dry it. Avoid scouring pads, solvents and pressure washers. If the coating is chipped through to bare metal, touch it up with a matching metal paint so rust cannot start, and wipe up spilt oil, road salt and garden chemicals promptly. Check the bolts, hinges and feet once a year and re-tighten them if needed.

Safety

Stand the unit on a flat, level floor and fix it to a solid wall with the anti-tip fixing supplied before you load it. Keep within the stated load ratings, put the heaviest items at the bottom and never climb on shelves, drawers or doors. Assembly needs two adults; wear gloves, as sheet-steel edges can be sharp. Keep keys and small fixings away from children.
